The Chairman of the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL), Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya SAN, made a significant announcement regarding the expansion of the organization’s educational support program at the 3rd edition of the Annual Scholarship and Bursary Award presentation, held at Ikorodu Town Hall on August 31, 2024.
Odofin Ogunsanya revealed that the annual bursary support, which currently totals ₦30 million, will be increased to ₦50 million in its 4th edition.
“This increase is aimed at broadening the support base for our young scholars, ensuring that more students from our community have access to the resources they need to excel in their academic pursuits,” he stated.
The bursary program has seen progressive growth since its inception, reflecting IDPIL’s commitment to fostering educational development in Ikorodu.
Initially, the bursary support was set at ₦20 million, which was then increased to ₦30 million, enabling a larger number of students across Ikorodu Division to benefit from the financial aid.
Ogunsanya explained that the rationale behind this increment is to extend the reach of the bursary program and enable more tertiary students to benefit from the financial aid at the tertiary education level.
The latest increase to ₦50 million represents a continued dedication to expanding opportunities for education within the community.
The announcement was warmly received by attendees, including students, parents, educators, and local leaders, who praised the initiative for its impact on promoting higher education and reducing financial barriers for students.
The expanded bursary support is expected to encourage more students to pursue tertiary education, contributing to the intellectual and professional growth of Ikorodu’s youth.
Ogunsanya explained the importance of education as a foundation for personal and community development.
“Investing in education is not just about providing financial aid; it’s about empowering our youth to become the future leaders of Ikorodu”.
“By increasing our bursary fund, we are making a statement of commitment to the growth and development of our community,” he added.
