Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, has called on students within Ikorodu Division to take full advantage of the federal government’s student loan scheme.
Speaking at the 3rd edition of the Annual Scholarship and Bursary Award presentation of the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative, held at Ikorodu Town Hall on August 31, 2024, Oba Shotobi emphasized the importance of education and encouraged students to leverage this opportunity to support their academic pursuits.
“The student loan, provided by the federal government, is accessible online, offering financial aid to students across the country.”
Oba Shotobi explained that Ikorodu students stand to benefit significantly from this initiative, which aims to alleviate the financial burdens of tertiary education.
Addressing students at the event organized by IDPIL, Oba Shotobi stated, “There is an online way to access the student’s loan provided by the federal government, and Ikorodu has been given the opportunity to benefit from it. It is very important for students who are sons and daughters of Ikorodu Division to take advantage of this support scheme.”
Understanding that some students might face difficulties in navigating the application process, Oba Shotobi extended a helping hand.
“Anyone who is an indigene of Ikorodu and has difficulty accessing it should forward their names to us so we can help them facilitate it,” he added.
The Ayangbure’s initiative aims to ensure that no student is left behind due to financial constraints, reaffirming his commitment to the educational advancement of Ikorodu youths.
The call to action has been well-received, with many expressing gratitude for the support and encouragement from the traditional leadership.
During the event, community leaders and educators praised the Ayangbure’s proactive approach, noting that it aligns with broader efforts to promote education and empower the younger generation within Ikorodu.
By facilitating access to the student loan scheme, Oba Shotobi hopes to see more students from Ikorodu complete their education and contribute positively to the region.
