The Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL) has congratulated the returning and newly elected council chairmen in Ikorodu Division and reiterated its stance that the body is not in competition with the local government administrators.
Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, the Executive Secretary, IDPIL and a retired Clerk/Permanent Secretary, Lagos State House of Assembly, made the clarification while also adding that the body is a partner in progress with council administrators and the state government.
He stated this viewpoint in his remarks at the 4th edition of the presentation of scholarship and bursary awards to over 200 students at the weekend. The event took place at N.S. Solaja Event Hall, Imota
‘’\\In view of the foregoing, let me reiterate, as it is my custom that the IDPIL is not a parallel local or state government, Ours is a child of necessity, established to complement the efforts of government at the federal, state and local government level.
“It is our strong belief that the government alone cannot meet all the societal needs, hence the need for strategic collaborations with non-governmental and community-based organizations like ours.
“To this end, I wish to congratulate all our newly elected as well as the re-elected local government Chairmen across Ikorodu Division on their election and swearing-in and to let them know that IDIPL is not in competition with them, but rather we are partners-in-progress towards the overall development of our Ikorodu Division.”
He called on the new council chairmen to see IDPIL as partners and join them in moving Ikorodu Division forward.
“We therefore invite you to join forces with us and let’s build a strategic partnership that will put Ikorodu Division on the right development trajectory,” Otunba Abiru said.
